There are many styling tools that can be used in the salon and at home to create a variety of hairstyles. One of the hottest hairstyles this season is the waves which can be seen on our favorite celebrities on the red carpet and even walking down the runway of our favorite fashion designers.
There are many ways that these wavy hairstyles can be created, let’s start with the most basic. First, to create wavy locks the hair can be set into pins and wrapped in coils, which are attached to the head until the hair is given the chance to dry. This will create wavy beach-like curls that can be finished and set with the use of finishing spray.
There are many other tools which are used to create waves within the hair such as three barrel curling irons, used on all of the locks of the hair and can create waves which are enviable. If the hair is layered, each layer should be curled separately to ensure that you receive the most amounts of curls. Although this can be the most time consuming of the two methods, it can create curls that have been set with the styling iron and therefore can create uniform curls through the style.

Hi Debbie,
There are many ways that you can make your hair wavy, for free or even cheap!
Consider taking pins and twisting your hair the night before, after you have had a shower. The pins can be used to twist the hair and pin the hair to the head. This is a free way to create waves that can be found in the hair all through the next day.
Work with the natural flow of your hair to get the best results. I hope this helps!

Sophie’s idea is really great! Use a little hairspray within the curls though to ensure the style remains within the hair.

Hi Lauren,
Bobby pins are cheap and are available at the local drug store. First take the strand of your hair and pull it downwards. Next, use a twisting motion that will twist the entire strand of the hair.
After this has been completed, pin the hair to the head in a sort of “U” shape, with the ends of the hair being pinned to the top.
Let this dry and you can have waves (:

Hi Amy,
Have you thought about using an anti frizz serum and than blowing the hair dry to about 90%, applying more serum to reduce frizziness and using curlers to create large waves within the hair?
Another option that would work for you is to straighten the hair with a flat iron, and than use a three prong curling iron to create loose waves – although this option may take longer.
Feel free to give us a before and after picture if you try these methods, we would love to see!

Hi Abby,
Make sure that you are using a moisturizing conditioner, or even a leave in conditioner that can use to create healthy and moisturized hair in the waves – as this will help you avoid dry and frizzy hair.
You should try using loose braids, or even curlers within the hair to create the waves, as smaller and tighter braids can indeed lead to the hair being dried out.
Also, consider an anti frizz serum, these work wonders (:
