Preparing the Hair for Micro Braid Styles

Styling the hair with the use of micro braids is popular in a variety of cultures and can be seen through multiple trendy hairstyles. There are many people that use these braids for a short period of time, others choose to use the braids for an extended period of time – braiding portions of, or the entire head through the process.
Micro braids are tiny braids which are weaved into the hair. The process of creating this hairstyles can take several hours and should be completed by a professional stylist. Most stylists will complete a quick trim of the hair before the micro braids are woven, as this can help to reduce the appearance of split ends within the hair.
It is important to properly treat the hair before the micro braids are woven into the hair. These tiny braids can be very damaging to the hair and therefore the conditioning treatments can help to reduce the damage that is caused to the follicle of the hair. Deep conditioning and hot oil treatments are the most popular types of treatments which are applied to the hair directly before the braiding process.
Be sure to leave the braids in for a maximum of sixty days, at which point the braids should be taken out and the hair can recover from the stress of the micro braids. Two to four weeks should pass before the hair is rebraided.

Hello, Im Keissa and im going micro’s in my hair and i will like to know if i have to braid it all the way down or half way?

Hi Keissa,
Braids are very popular right now that are half way down. This way, you can still create many other styles – Although this is completely personal preference, you can find many other styles that include braids by having a look around the site.
A benefit of braiding the hair halfway down is that the ends of the hair will not be damaged as much.

Chances are that real hair was used, as it is preferred by high end stylists and achieves a more natural look.
