If you are doing an up-do, you need to clip the extensions in before styling because they should blend in with your actual hair. When styling your hair down, you can add them in before or after. If they are a different color than your actual hair, you can try leaving your hair down in loose curls and clipping them in afterward. You can leave them straight, hanging down within the curls, or you can give them a curl as well.

Clip extensions are great to have because you can have them any length, depending on how short your hair is. They generally come really long so you can trim them to fit your hair length. However, if you have enough clip extensions you can make your hair look longer than it is, or have long hair with short extensions adding volume to the top part of your head.
